  • To preserve the beauty and longevity of your natural silk item, please follow these care instructions:

    Cleaning

Natural silk should preferably be cleaned by professional dry cleaning.

Do not bleach and do not use detergents containing chlorine or harsh chemicals.

    Hand Washing

Washing natural silk frequently is not recommended. When you do, treat your scarf to a gentle hand wash in lukewarm water using mild detergent specially made for silk or delicate fabrics. Move the fabric softly through the water for a few minutes without rubbing, wringing or twisting. Rinse carefully until the water runs clear.

    Machine Washing

Machine washing is generally not recommended. I have occasionally tested it myself — always with some anxiety — and the silk has remained unharmed, but this cannot be guaranteed, so it is done at your own risk.

If absolutely necessary, wash with mild detergent specially made for silk or delicates in a large amount of lukewarm water (up to 30 °C) using a delicate setting, without pre-soaking and with minimal mechanical action. Choose a short rinse cycle that gradually transitions to cold water and use a low spin speed.

Whenever possible, hand washing or professional cleaning is preferable to protect the fabric.

    Drying

Do not tumble dry. Allow the scarf to air dry naturally. To remove excess moisture, gently press your silk between clean towels — never wring it out. Lay the scarf flat on a fresh towel away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Avoid hanging the silk while wet, as gravity may stretch and distort its shape.

    Ironing & Storage

Iron on a low temperature setting suitable for silk, preferably on the reverse side. If a higher temperature is needed, place a clean cotton cloth between the iron and the fabric.

Store the scarf flat in a cool, dry place to help maintain its shape and appearance. Alternatively, hang your scarf on a padded or rounded hanger.

Proper care will help preserve the color, texture and delicate structure of the silk for years to come.

  • Seidraum offers two types of silk scarves: printed editions based on original artworks, and one-of-a-kind batik pieces painted directly by hand on silk.

  • If you have an idea for a personal piece, a special request, or a collaboration in mind, you are warmly invited to contact me at studio@seidraum.com. I take on selected custom projects when time allows and the idea resonates with my work.

  • All Seidraum designs begin as original artworks on paper — not patterns or digitally assembled elements.

I sketch and paint each piece by hand using mixed media, primarily watercolour, building complete compositions from the first line to the final detail. My background includes formal art training, which continues to influence how I approach colour, flow and fabric.

For printed scarves, the finished artwork is scanned in high resolution and carefully prepared digitally to preserve the softness, transparency and brushwork of the original painting before being transferred onto silk. Learn more about artisan printed scarves here.

The one-of-a-kind batik pieces follow a different process. After creating a full-scale sketch, the design is drawn onto silk by hand. Special resist agents are applied to define the outlines and control the flow of dye. Once dry, colour is painted directly into the fabric, layer by layer. Each batik piece is then fixed, washed, tested for colour stability, and dried to ensure it is wearable and long-lasting. Because this process happens directly on silk, every piece is unique and cannot be reproduced. Learn more about hand-painted batik scarves here.

  • I will always use only natural fabrics. Natural fabrics are not only higher quality and last longer than synthetic fabrics, but they are most importantly biodegradable.

Seidraum scarves are made with 100% pure silk twill or Pongé.

Batik textile dyes that are used are manufactured according to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) and are not classified as hazardous according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008. They are water-based, contributing to lower environmental impact.

Seidraum printed scarves are ethically produced in Ukraine. The silk is digitally printed using environmentally friendly water-based inks.

Each piece is designed in limited quantity to last, reducing fast fashion waste.

Afterward, please return the unworn and intact design in its original packaging.
